Swansboro Trout Tournament Win!!

The rain did not put a damper on the 18th annual Swansboro Speckled Trout Tournament. We had a fairly good turn out with all the serious trout fishing competition from the area. The key was finding some clean water that had not been dirtied up from all the rain last week. John Hislop and myself were lucky enough to find clean water and catch some good trout. We had a bag of 18.9lbs with a 8.5 and 7.3lb trout to take the win and big fish award. Awesome day to say the least to hold out against some of the best trout fishermen in the state. We went back to the same area on Monday but the brown dirty water had moved in. The fish were shut down some, but we did manage to catch a few nice trout and redfish. There are some really nice fish showing up and the action should improve over the next month. November, December, and January are some of the best month of the year to catch a lot of trout. I have days open so don't miss out on some good fishing.

Awesome Fall Fishing!!

We have had some great action on the water the past few weeks. Redfish, Speckled Trout, Albacore, Bluefish have all been on fire. The albacore and bluefish action is as good as its gets. They are destroying bait fish in the surf around the inlets and out to the shoals. Blues in the 2 to 5lb range have been provide us with some awesome top water action. The redfish are schooled up in massive numbers in the surf right now. This past weekend on Saturday Nov. 7th we put 61 reds in the boat in the upper slot range. The reds are still back in the bays and river hitting just about anything you get in front of them. Speckled trout are on the move and we have been catching fish up to 5lbs. Sunday Nov.8 we had 15 keepers with 8 of them weighing 4 to 5lbs. The fishing is hot and we have days open so give us a call.

Fall Fishing is Wide Open!!

The past few weeks have been very busy to say the lest. My wife and I welcomed our little girl Katie into the world on Sept.12. She weighed 7lbs 8oz and has been a blessing to us. We have been getting out on the water to take advantage of the best fishing of the year. October is a very hot month for fishing and the action has been great. The reds and bluefish have been on fire. We have been catching reds up to 14lbs and blues to 10lbs. Speckled trout are starting to show up in good numbers in the marsh and the rivers. October and November are two of the best months of the year. We have dates open so don't miss out on some hot fall fishing!

Hot Redfish Action!!!

The past week has been awesome redfishing to say the least. We have had good numbers of upper to over slot reds. Myself and Gary Carroll put over 30 redfish in the boat in just a few hours last Friday in the rain. Talk about some great action. The approaching storm will cause higher that normal tides and push the reds in the grass. We should have some good tailing action by the end of the week. If you have never fished for reds tailing in the grass you should, it's a total blast.

The redfish action is still hot and should continue this month. I took an evening off to do a little of me time fishing with my dad and good friend Kenny, aka Kingfish Kenny. We had a great time with some over slot redfish and I caught my personnal best trout that measured just a little over 29''. Talk about amped up! We took a few pictures and released her back to fight another day. The NCDMF is now doing live release citations for trout over 24'' so I would encourge people to release these big spawning trout. Awesome day on the water. We have dates open so don't miss out on some great fishing.

The striper action has been insane on the Neuse River for the past several days. I fished with my friend Frank from New Bern and my dad last friday, we had an awesome day. We caught stripers all morning on top water baits. Between the three of use we put over 40 fish in the boat all on top water. The fishing was so good we went back on Sunday and the action was even better. Striper were busting on shad just about all day. We ended up with 55 stripers ranging from 2 to 5lbs all on top water with redfish and trout mixed in. The Neuse River striper fishing is hot and if you would like to experience some insane top water action give us a call.

The redfish action has been very hot for the past few weeks! Reds have been killing the top water baits. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. The flounder have started showing up better numbers inside. We have been catching some good keeper size fishing around docks and drifting the inlet channels. Fishing is hot and we do have dates open. If you want to get into some great top water redfishing give me a call.

Summer time fishing is here and the action is as hot as the temperatures. The redfish have been going off on top water baits in the marsh. We have been catching some nice upper to over slot reds using popping corks and top waters on the falling tide. Right now not only is the redfish action hot, but most of the other species are here in good numbers also. The Spanish and King mackerel have shown up in good numbers. Slow trolling with live shad around the inlets and the ARs have been producing good action. Flounder are starting move in around the inlets and the ARs also. The sheep head bite around the bridges has been very good. Bluefish are still tearing it up even hooked a big chopper blue this weekend. Ladyfish should be showing up anytime and they are a blast on top water baits. I have heard of some tarpon that have been spotted on the Neuse River hopefully we will get a chance to chase some of them soon. The fishing is hot and I do have dates open.

June 3

The summer time fishing is heating up! Redfish are getting very aggressive and they are smashing top water baits in the marsh. We have had some awesome action with them the last few weeks and the action should continue. The speckled trout have begun to move down the Neuse River toward the Pamilco Sound to spawn and the top water action should be great early and late in the day. I have heard reports of fish over 6lbs that have been caught. The right off the beach is heating also. Spanish and King mackerel are showing up in good numbers. This past weekend I had a chance to fish with a good friend Capt. Jeff Cronk. We ran out and tried some amber jack fishing. These fish are some serious tackle busting fish. We caught a few in the 30lb range. If you have never caught any of these fish before I highly recommend that you try them and you will find out why they are called reef donkeys. Fishing is hot so do miss out!

May 13 Awesome fishing!

The inshore fishing as been hot! We had some awesome action with big bluefish at Cape Lookout. These blues are in the 7 to 10 pound range and they are a blast on light tackle. The fish are hungry and striking anything in their path. We got them on shallow running crank baits, top water, and even jigging. The surprise of the day was a nice size cobia that weighed 39.5lbs caught on a buck tripped with a berkley gulp. This was a battle with a shimano 4000 spooled with 20lb power pro. The redfish are moving in the marsh and the top water action has been great. Things are really heating up so it is time to get out on the water.

Fishing report

The spring fishing is about to kick off wide open. We are still having alot of windy days but the water temp is coming up. Usually when the dogwood trees start blooming the fishing gets hot. The redfish and speckled trout action has been very good for the last few weeks. There are some very nice trout being caught in the creeks off the Neuse River. Redfish are starting to move into the bays and stage up around the grass on the high tides. The bluefish should be invading the inlets anytime now. Spring fishing is heating up and we will be on the water alot. Looking forward to another good on the water.
